A Director from the Department of Agriculture in De Aar was arrested after he allegedly claimed that he had the right to sell a piece of land.
According to a press release from the Hawks, Sicelo Williams (56) was arrested in Kimberley. He recently also appeared in the De Aar’s magistrate’s court. He was released on R3 000 bail, and the case will appear in court again on 22 May.
According to the Hawks, Sicelo offered to act as a mediator between the buyer and the owner of an open stretch of land in De Aar. He later said that he will act on behalf of the owner as they are “constantly busy in Cape Town”.
The piece of land was viewed and the necessary documents were completed. Sicelo was then paid R95 450 for the piece of land that did not belong to him or any of his colleagues.
