Top Herd Offers Excellent Bulls

26 July 2023

Zinabos Stud Farm will hold its 34th production auction on the Hoogland farm outside Fouriesburg on August 4. A total of 70 Bonsmara bulls will be on offer.

Zinabos Bonsmara bulls from the sourveld of the eastern Free State have a proven record of exceptional fertility.

That’s why Zinabos Stud Farm’s annual production auction, held by Fourie Scheepers and Sons, is a must-attend event for cattle farmers seeking quality breeding material.

This year’s auction at 11am on August 4 will feature 70 bulls, tested in phases C and D, as well as 30 cows (pregnant or with calf). Additionally, 60 pregnant heifers and 90 commercial female animals will be available.

The Zinabos herd was among the top 10 in SA Stud Book’s Herd of the Year in 2023, across all breeds, and its performance was above average on all Bonsmara breeding values. Zinabos focuses on beef production, and its bulls are strong and well-adapted to the sourveld.

The bulls also excel in terms of muscling, and their physical condition is impressive, a sign of excellent genetics. Bull CEF 20-327 (lot 12) is a prime example of this. He also represents the quality offered at the auction – smooth-haired, dark red with a long body, good muscling, and capacity.

The bull is broad over his back with a beautiful long rump and good tail attachment. His mother was a top-performing dam that was sold to Baszohn Bonsmaras for R135,000 in 2022. She was also the mother of CEF 16-0333, sold to Tiaan Kruger for R400,000 in 2018.

The Zinabos auction will be conducted in-person and online by BKB.
