Tuli bulls and heifers with excellent breeding values attracted buyers from far and wide to the Alpha & Omega stud’s production auction.
Industry experts believe this stud of Harm and Alwyn Marx, in partnership with Gert Schmidt, is one of the best in South Africa.
BKB hosted the auction on Thursday, 23 May, at Essex farm in the Burgersdorp district.
Two bulls each achieved the top price of R60 000. The buyers were AH Swanepoel from Marquard and Awro Ostro Boerdery BK from Burgersdorp.
The average price for stud bulls was R42 200 and for stud heifers R15 625. Commercial bulls sold for an average of R39 200 and commercial cows for an average of R16 000.
Swiftvee managed the online auction that was held alongside the physical auction. JP Marais from BKB was the auctioneer.
