RMIS has identified 1.4 million hectares to support medium- to large-scale black producers. They plan to provide production support to help 250 000 additional weaners enter the formal market over the next decade. The goal is to establish adequate animal handling facilities in areas with the highest production and animal health risks. African Farming editor Peter Lebogang Mashala spoke to Khomotso Mashiloane, RMIS’ livestock technical advisor, at this year’s Nampo Harvest Day to learn more about the mobile handling facility they use for this purpose.
