During the NWGA National Congress last week, regional winners were announced and the overall winner was elected as Best Communal Shearing Shed.
Congratulations to the following shearing sheds, who, besides adhering to the normal criteria of classing and shearing, also purchase their own rams to increase the quality of their sheep flocks.
Region 20 – Lumanyano Wool Growers, Tsolo
Region 21 – Cains 2022 Shearing Shed, Fort Beaufort
Region 23 – Allen Waters Wool Growers, Whittlesea
Region 24 – Luzie Shearing Shed, Mount Fletcher
Region 25 – Upper Tele Shearing Shed, Sterkspruit
Allen Waters hailed as overall winner in the competition.
All five communities will receive animal health products from Zoetis, sole sponsor of the competition. Zoetis will continue with their annual procedure of handing out the prizes later in the year when their field officers will liaise with NWGA production advisors to visit the respective communities and administer the animal health medicine according to number of livestock in those villages.
