The first Primigravida auction was held on Saturday, 8 June, at Phala Phala Wildlife near Bela-Bela. The auction was a great success with high-quality animals offered.
The sellers are satisfied given the location and economic conditions. The auction’s total turnover was R2 567 000.
A Boran cow and her calf from Ntaba Nyoni Feedlot of eManzana (Badplaas) fetched the highest price of R140 000. They were purchased by Iminathi Boran of Mookgophong.
Cows with calves were sold for an average of R115 000.
A total of 44 pregnant Boran heifers were sold for an average of R51 204. A heifer from Ntaba Nyoni Feedlot and Iminathi Boran fetched the highest price of R100 000. She was purchased by E Mtangi of Zimbabwe and Destipro Farming of Mossel Bay.
An open Boran heifer was sold for R42 000. The seller was Ntaba Nyoni Feedlot and the buyer was S Sethene of Edenburg.
One bull from Olifantsklip Borans in Mookgophong was offered for sale and was sold for R42 000 to L Sibeko of Oakdene.
