At the annual auction of the Bosveld Meatmaster Club held on May 24 at the Warmbad Auction Yard in Bela-Bela, 250 ewes and 20 rams were offered.
Baywind Trading 12 KB from Mokopane bought the Meatmaster stud ram which fetched the highest price, R34 000, from PHW Vermaak of Witbank.
Elders Rust Farming and Faith Family Farms sold the most expensive Meatmaster stud ewe with a lamb for R7 500 to PHW Vermaak and Thaba Nyala Game Breeders from Empangeni.
A pregnant Meatmaster stud ewe from Faith Family Farms achieved the highest price of R8 000. The buyer was Hoogmoedfontein Estate from Bela-Bela.
A Meatmaster stud ewe from Baywind Trading was sold for R7 000 to WW Kruger from Thabazimbi.
The average prices of stud animals were as follows: Meatmaster rams R21 666; Meatmaster ewes with lambs R5 916; pregnant Meatmaster ewes R5 170; and Meatmaster ewes R4 359.
Regarding herd animals, the average prices were as follows: Pregnant Meatmaster ewes R3 250; Meatmaster ewes R2 886; and Meatmaster ewes with lambs R3 500.
Vleissentraal Bosveld hosted the auction in collaboration with Swiftvee, and Chris Keyter was the auctioneer.
