As we celebrate the success of the 2024 farmers’ days, we turn our attention to the Earth Harvest Gala, scheduled to take place on 22 November at Bakone Malapa Open-Air Museum in Polokwane, Limpopo. This will be a grand outdoor celebration dedicated to the rich cultural heritage and agricultural traditions of our nation.
Themed “Agri-is-our-Culture”, the Earth Harvest Gala is all about honouring the roots of agriculture that have shaped our communities for generations. It’s a platform to recognise the importance of indigenous farming knowledge, sustainable agricultural practices and the traditions that have made agriculture a way of life in Limpopo and beyond.
Some of Limpopo’s most inspiring farmers will be sharing their success stories at the gala. These are individuals who have not only made strides in their fields but have also made significant contributions to preserving the legacy of traditional agriculture while embracing innovation. Their journeys, marked by resilience, creativity and a deep connection to the land, will leave you motivated and inspired.
The Earth Harvest Gala is also about celebrating the essence of who we are as a community. This is an outdoor event, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Bakone Malapa Open-Air Museum, where we’ll dance, celebrate and throw dust into the air as we make joyful moves in honour of our heritage. This isn’t just an event; it’s a cultural experience, a chance to express our pride and to connect with our roots in the most authentic way possible.
We encourage everyone to dress in their finest traditional attire, ready to showcase the beauty of our diverse cultures. The best-dressed individuals in traditional outfits will stand a chance to win fantastic hampers, so make sure you bring your A-game and your most vibrant attire. Let’s turn this into a spectacular showcase of our heritage with colours, fabrics and designs that speak of our history and pride.
Since this will be an outdoor celebration, we recommend that all attendees bring camp chairs. We want you to be relaxed and ready to enjoy a full day of festivities that will include not just inspiring talks but also food stalls with delicious traditional dishes, exhibition stands showcasing innovative products, and incredible items on sale that highlight the best of our agricultural produce.
