BFGoodrich, a brand synonymous with all-terrain excellence, proudly announces the launch of its latest innovation: the BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO3, thereby revolutionising off-road performance across Africa.
The launch at the Lion & Safari Park in Johannesburg showcased the advanced capabilities of a tyre designed to meet the unique demands of off-road driving in Africa.

This milestone not only represents the debut of a powerful new tyre but highlights BFGoodrich’s expanded vision and commitment to the African market, one of the fastest-growing regions for off-road and all-terrain vehicles.
The KO3 follows the successful KO2, which set a benchmark for off-road durability and performance over the past decade. BFGoodrich spent 10 years developing the KO3, gathering extensive feedback from thousands of users, including farmers, adventurers and everyday commuters.
“Our journey with the KO2 has been incredible, covering the toughest terrains – from the deserts of South America to the Namibian dunes here in Africa,” says Ashutosh Jha, marketing director of BFGoodrich. “We knew there was room for improvement, and the KO3 is our answer to that.”

The KO3 launch underscores BFGoodrich’s focus on Africa, a continent with immense potential for off-road vehicles. Amaury Vadon, managing director of Michelin Sub-Saharan Africa, noted: “The demand for BFGoodrich products in Africa is unmatched. We sell in one month in South Africa what we sell in one year in France. The opportunity here is massive, not just in South Africa but across the entire continent.”
The KO3 is designed to excel in diverse African terrains, from the rugged landscapes of East Africa to the sandy trails of Southern Africa, ensuring superior performance in the most challenging conditions.
The KO3 is the result of 150 years of expertise and innovation. Leveraging Michelin’s technical advances and BFGoodrich’s legacy of robust performance, the KO3 offers enhanced durability, traction and adaptability.
Guests at the launch tested the KO3’s capabilities on muddy trails, steep inclines and uneven gravel roads. The tyre’s advanced tread design and BFGoodrich’s proprietary CoreGard Technology, which reinforces the sidewalls to guard against punctures, ensure reliability and durability in the harshest environments.

Jha emphasised the tyre’s importance: “The KO3’s debut is an exciting moment for off-roaders and bakkie drivers in South Africa. With its enhanced durability and performance, the KO3 is designed to handle the toughest conditions, offering drivers peace of mind on all terrains – whether they’re venturing into the wilderness, navigating gravel roads or tackling daily work routes.”
BFGoodrich is part of the Michelin Group, known for its revolutionary contributions to the tyre industry, including the development of radial tyres and energy-saving technologies. The company’s commitment is rooted in its guiding philosophy: People x Profit x Planet, emphasising the importance of creating products that simultaneously benefit people, business and the environment.
“It’s not just people plus profit plus planet; it’s people multiplied by profit multiplied by planet. If any of these elements are zero, the whole equation fails,” says Vadon.
The KO3 builds on the legacy of the KO2, incorporating a decade of research, feedback and technological advancements. It offers improved wear performance, increased durability on gravel roads and enhanced traction on snow and loose surfaces.

Harold Phillips, BFGoodrich global general manager, adds: “We are our own competition, and we knew it was time to take the all-terrain tyre to another level. The KO3 represents the culmination of our racing, research and innovation over the past decade.”
Available in 13 sizes, the KO3 caters to a wide range of vehicles, ensuring drivers in Africa can benefit from its improved performance. Additional sizes will be introduced throughout 2025, expanding accessibility for off-road enthusiasts and professionals.
The launch of the KO3 also signifies a renewed commitment by BFGoodrich to engage directly with African consumers. “We’re not just introducing a product; we’re building a community,” says Jha. “We’ll be engaging with 4×4 forums, expanding our BFGoodrich Adventure Network, and enhancing our digital presence to connect with our users and gather valuable feedback.”

This approach aims to make the brand more accessible and foster a deeper connection with African consumers, ensuring that every driver feels part of the BFGoodrich story.
As the KO3 embarks on its journey across Africa, it serves as a testament to BFGoodrich’s commitment to the continent – ensuring that every adventure, every drive and every challenge is met with the best in tyre technology. “Welcome to this magical journey,” says Jha. “It’s not every day that you get to experience something that only happens once in a decade. We’re excited to be on this journey with you and to see the impact the KO3 will have across Africa.”
