The Twice as Nice production auction of Dormers and Suffolks boasts a 100% sales rate despite the tight economy.
The auction was held on 11 October at the farm Wanstead near Cedarville by Mich Turner on behalf of Turner and Tjaart Steenekamp from Lower Orpendale near Barkly East.
The Dormer ram, T 230294 from Steenekamp achieved the highest price of R45 000. The buyer was Graham Hope from Richmond. The average price of the 14 Dormer rams was R14 214.
The most expensive Suffolk ram also came from the Steenekamp stable and was sold for R16 000 to Mark and Brett Newton from Matatiele. The average price of the 10 Suffolk rams on offer was R7 600.
The offering of Dormer ewe lambs achieved an average price of R2 343, non-pregnant Dormer ewes averaged R2 784, and Dormer ewes with lambs averaged R4 500.
