The Kroonvee Brahman summer sale, held at Buckshee Farm outside Vryburg on 6 November delivered impressive results despite the current poor livestock market.
Despite the low prices in the livestock market, the sale notched up some impressive bids.
The highest-priced bull sold for R300 000, and two other bulls sold for R220 000 and R150 000.
The most expensive bull, Lot 8, Ariat-JVZ21-233 (Manso), was sold for R300 000 and purchased by Morgan Sibanda from Beatrice Farm, located outside Harare in Zimbabwe.
The second highest bull, Lot 6, Farrel-JVZ21-378 (Manso), was bought for R220 000 by Miltezi Mhizha of Marupani Farm in the Mwenzi District, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe.
The third most expensive bull sold was a red Brahman, Lot 14 Bronco-JVZ21-498, which Enoch Chitekedza of Triple Tee Brahmans, based at Little England Farm in Nyabira, Mashonaland West Province, acquired for R150 000.
In the female category, Kroon Vee JVZ22-86 fetched the highest price and was bought for R75 000 by Johan Van Rensburg from Sanniesbof.
The average price for Manso bulls was R71 000, and for Red Brahmans, R63 000. Heifers averaged R40 000, while cows with calves obtained an average price of R47 000.
