In a groundbreaking collaboration agreement, the network organisation Saai has partnered with Landworks, a recruitment platform for the agricultural sector, and Crewit, a specialised Irish recruitment service, to introduce 100 job opportunities in Ireland.
This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience with advanced tools, agricultural equipment, and transport systems while earning a salary. Saai, which represents agricultural students at institutions including the University of Pretoria, the University of the Free State, and Stellenbosch University, is committed to equipping its members with the best possible opportunities for a successful career, says Francois Rossouw, CEO of Saai.
Through the collaboration with Crewit and Landworks, Saai aims to remove financial barriers by enabling students to earn money abroad, build their savings, and return to South Africa with the necessary capital to invest in their farming enterprises.
Landworks, which connects agricultural talent with employers through a streamlined, direct recruitment process, will offer the first 100 opportunities on its platform, which includes specialised positions in mechanics, such as operating tractors from top brands and advanced agricultural equipment, and positions as mechanics for various vehicles.
Through these job opportunities, students can gain industry knowledge, learn from experienced professionals, and access the latest tools and practices. “With this initiative, we want to empower young agricultural students by offering them the opportunity for practical experience and a strong financial foundation,” says Rossouw. “Farming is more than a job; it’s a calling that requires dedication, resources, and knowledge. Thanks to this overseas opportunity, our students can improve their skills and bring back the knowledge they’ve gained, contributing to the growth of the South African agricultural sector.”
