RMIS will sponsor the first 600 teachers to apply for a license to access a support platform for Grade 12 Agricultural Science.
Red Meat Industry Services (RMIS) has partnered with MyLife and Sagritex to develop a comprehensive online support platform for Grade 12 Agricultural Science teachers. The resource is designed to refresh teachers’ subject knowledge, facilitate online lesson preparation, and enrich classrooms with blended learning materials in line with the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS).
According to a statement, the programme, developed by experienced South African teachers, places a particular emphasis on livestock studies while covering the entire Grade 12 Agricultural Science syllabus. The programme contains 234 video resources, exam-related questions and answers, fascinating facts and a full annual overview.
Teachers and/or schools that want to use the programme must pay an annual license fee. RMIS explains that a teacher must apply for the license in his or her personal capacity, as licenses are awarded to individuals rather than schools.
To make the material as widely accessible as possible, RMIS has decided to sponsor the cost of 600 licenses. The licenses will be allocated proportionally according to the number of schools offering the subject per province. Applications and awards will be processed in the order they are received.
40% already allocated
The Department of Basic Education already circulated a request for applications through its official national and provincial channels at the end of last year. By January 6, 40% of the available sponsored licenses had already been issued.
“Any teacher teaching Grade 12 Agricultural Science is eligible to apply for a license,” says RMIS.
Two teachers who have already been awarded licenses had the following to say about the programme:
Stanley Tshwale, teacher at the Tembisa Community Learning Centre in Gauteng: “I reviewed your online project for Grade 12 Agricultural Science and found it to provide excellent resources that can produce excellent results. It even includes economics lessons. I have learned a lot from your online teaching materials.”
Barbara Cronjé, teacher at Swartland High School in the Western Cape: “It is very comprehensive. Clear definitions and diagrams are included.”onsor the first 600 teachers to apply for a license to access a support platform for Grade 12 Agricultural Science.

Dewald Olivier, CEO of RMIS, says they believe this programme will ultimately advance the future of the agricultural sector: “We recognise the importance of equipping educators with relevant, high-quality resources. Our partnership with MyLife and Sagritex allows us to make a tangible difference at the grassroots level, which will ultimately benefit South Africa’s learners and the future of the agricultural sector.”
