Thirty-five years ago, Mhlangenqaba Mkizwana gave up working for mining companies to start full-time farming his family’s communal land. This still physically strong and enthusiastic 77-year-old is Grain South Africa’s latest Subsistence Farmer of the Year. He exemplifies that dedication, not age, determines farming success.
