The Tuli breeders’ group, Next Gen, held a successful auction with more than R2.3 million turnover at the Kimberley livestock market.
Jim Bredenkamp, a businessman farmer from Wolhaarkop farm near Postmasburg, paid the highest price for a female animal and a bull. The most expensive animal of the day was the SP cow CR180032 and her bull calf ML240020 from Helena Malherbe’s Luma Livestock, a subsidiary of the Malu group from Kimberley.
Cornelis Rautenbach of the Nonnie stud near Reitz bred the cow. Bredenkamp paid R64 000 for the pair, as well as R60 000 for the bull CT 220063 from Herlu Rautenbach’s Carroll Tuli’s near Lichtenburg. An average price of R42 250 was achieved for 12 stud bulls. A commercial bull fetched R30 000, pregnant SP cows R19 750, pregnant SP heifers R20 000, and SP cows with a calf R27 818. The average price for commercial cows with a calf was R19 923, pregnant commercial cows R16 500, pregnant commercial heifers R20 095, and non-pregnant commercial heifers R13 740.
