African Farming editor, Lebogang Mashala, attended a recent stakeholder engagement and workshop focused on the commercialisation of the goat industry, organised by the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) and Ekim Wildlife at the ARC head office in Hatfield, Pretoria. He chatted with Professor Norman Maiwashe.
Professor Maiwashe, Senior Manager of Research at the Agricultural Research Council’s Animal Production (ARC-AP), highlighted the importance of commercialising the goat industry. He stated that this industry has significant potential for economic growth; however, collaboration among stakeholders is essential to ensure sustainable development and meet the increasing demand for goat products.
