Zoliwe Nombewu was a runner-up in the 2024 Grain SA South Africa Potential Commercial Farmer of the Year competition. She has travelled a long and sometimes daunting journey to this point. Yet, she is adamant she is far from finished.
Once a hairdresser in Mthatha, Zoliwe now farms nearly 500 hectares of commercial grains on communal lands in the Eastern Cape’s Tsolo district.
African Farming spoke to her about some of her highs and lows so far with farming, and to find out what her next plans are.
