As part of Operation Sukuma Sakhe, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa is leading a foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccination drive today at the Johnstone dip tank in Newcastle to aid in a sweep-up operation.
This initiative seeks to encourage livestock farmers who may have overlooked bringing their cattle to dip tanks for FMD vaccination.
MEC KaMadlopha-Mthethwa is encouraging farmers to stop the movement of cattle to help stop the spread of the disease.
FMD remains restricted to four districts in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
