The Department of Agriculture has announced the new plant health tariffs for the importation of plants and plant products into the country.
As of yesterday, 1 April, import permits issued in terms of the Agriculture Pests Act 1983, for controlled/regulated goods of plants, plants products and associated products, such as live or dead plants or derivation thereof, pathogens, insects, exotic animals, growth medium, honey, beeswax or used apiary equipment, will be issued at a new tariff.
- Issue of an import permit – R240
- Issue of an amendment letter – R410

The department says no services will be rendered unless the correct tariff has been paid into the right account. Clients are encouraged to ensure that correct payment is made to avoid delays in processing applications.
