A Brahman bull that sold for R77 500 was the highlight of an auction of white Brahmans from the Au Albidus group held at Bela-Bela on 22 March.
Seren Electrical of Pretoria was the buyer of DNS 21-568 from DNS Brahman at Vaalwater. The nine bulls at the auction fetched an average price of R56 000.
The highest price for a female animal was R60 000 for a pregnant cow with a calf, HLT 21-334, sold by MBS Brahmane of Modimolle. The buyer was Meshinda Farm of Klerksdorp.
Four cows with calves were sold for an average of R39 375. The highest price of R50 000 was paid for an animal from CRE Brahmane, Mokopane. Kleentech Facilities Management of Seshego bought the cow. The average price was R39 375.
Forty pregnant heifers also went under the hammer. DNS Brahmane of Vaalwater fetched the highest price of R34 000. The buyer was N. Chibi of Emalahleni. The pregnant heifers were sold for an average price of R27 975.
Nine heifers that walked with a bull were also offered. The highest price was R30 000 for a CRE Brahman heifer sold to Kleentech. The average price was R25 111.
There were also seven open heifers at the auction and the highest price was R26 000 for a heifer belonging to De Ville Farming of Middelburg and Eltricha Brahman of Vaalwater. M. Ramolotja of Ivory Hills, Schoeman ALS of Brits and B.D. Mashego of Middelburg were the buyers. The open heifers achieved an average of R23 714.
Vleissentraal Bosveld hosted the auction. Mike Killassey was the auctioneer and Carel Chalmers was the marketer.
