Two passionate agricultural enthusiasts recently shared their experiences and insights from attending the Nampo agricultural exhibition.
Lungelo Msane, a dedicated agricultural student from KwaZulu-Natal, is currently pursuing his studies at the Grootfontein Agricultural College in Middleburg, Eastern Cape. With clear aspirations toward a career in primary farming, Lungelo attended Nampo seeking knowledge that could benefit both his studies and his future agricultural endeavours in his home province.
Vaughan Louw, an established farmer from Kakamas near Upington in the Northern Cape, continues his family’s tradition of farming raisins and lucerne. His participation at Nampo was driven by a desire to explore both international and local farming innovations that could enhance his existing agricultural operations.
Both gentlemen emphasised how Nampo provided exceptional opportunities to witness cutting-edge farming equipment and techniques. The exhibition served as a vital platform for connecting with the latest developments in agricultural technology, particularly in precision farming.
“The exposure to new agricultural systems and machinery was invaluable,” explained Lungelo, who hopes to apply this knowledge both academically and practically.
Vaughan noted that seeing international farming practices alongside local innovations offered fresh perspectives that could directly benefit his family’s raisin and lucerne production.
Both participants highlighted the importance of networking and exposure in today’s rapidly evolving agricultural landscape. Their experiences underscore how events like Nampo contribute to the ongoing development and sustainability of South African agriculture.
