South Africa’s largest slaughter and store lamb auction on 16 April in Trompsburg resulted in very good prices.
The auction, held by Vleissentraal and managed online by Meerkat, had a turnover of R34,2 million. More than 19 000 sheep were offered for sale at the auction, which was held as part of the Trompsburg Agricultural Show at Trompsburg Primary School.
“Excellent livestock was offered and excellent prices were achieved. Congratulations to all the farmers on a great day. You deserve these prices. The livestock industry is on fire,” said Mario Kruger, executive director of Vleissentraal Port Elizabeth.
There were 27 buyers on the floor and 34 buyers participated online.
The auctioneer was André van Zyl.
