We caught up with Chris Ngeleza, national transformation manager at the South African Meat Industry Company (SAMIC) during the South African Pork Producers’ Organisation (SAPPO) annual media day, the Baconer’s Brunch, held recently at the Pretoria Country Club.

Ngeleza spoke about the work they do with SAPPO to ensure and maintain high quality standards on the locally produced pork, especially with the smallholder pig farmers.

Its initiatives include African Farming information days and workshops, which empower farmers – whether new or experienced – to build profitable and sustainable farming enterprises.
