Devlan Limousin’s “For the Love of the Breed” auction showcased outstanding genetics from a stud herd established for over thirty years. Limousin breeders gathered at Waters Edge Farm in Vaaldam for this event.

The highest-priced animal at the auction was Devlan Remix, sired by Sir Lancelot, which sold for R100 000. Devlan Remix is a long, masculine, early maturing and easy-fleshing bull with a strong top line, suitable for both showing and breeding. His listing (Lot 1) is particularly outstanding.
The highest-priced cow at the event was Sarnia Ladylike, who was sold for R90 000 while walking with her bull calf. She was bred from the well-known show bull, Devlan King.
Additionally, ten straws of semen from Devlan Sir Lancelot (DL19 9) were sold for R18 000, and ten embryos from Devlan Kelly and Italia (XRL1638) were sold for R70 000. Devlan Kelly is the 2024 Supreme Champion of Gold Cup winners at Nampo/Alfa, while Italia is a World Champion Bull.
The auction began with a new tradition introduced by the Limousin Breeders Society: the Jägermeister Golden Heart floating trophy, which included a bottle of Jägermeister and was designated as Lot 0 in the catalogue. The Golden Heart Trophy fetched an impressive R18 000 from an online buyer.
