Karoo-Ochse Vryburg held their annual weaner auction at Amalia on 18 June 2025. A total of 3 053 calves were sold with a turnover of R32 364 150. The auction achieved an average price of R 40 to R55/kg at an average of 261,56 kg.
As usual, feedlots from all over the country attended the auction to purchase weaners of the best quality.
A big thank you to Hansie Muller (jr.) from Outback Feedlot, who was the buyer with the highest turnover. He purchased 682 calves with a turnover of R6,6 million. The seller with the highest turnover was Buks van Wyk from Wolmaransstad.
Weaner calf competition
A weaner calf competition was also held. Lebo Mabe from Lebo Tebo Trading took first place, Lourens de Jager from Braamlou Boerdery took second place and JD van der Vyver from Sedutla Trust took third place.
