Wilhelmus van der Schyff of the farm Rietfontein near Bultfontein says he was pleasantly surprised by the interest from the buyers.
According to him, Beefmaster prices have shown a surge in the past two weeks compared to the first auctions of the winter, which were slightly slower.
Glen Visser of Kleinheuwel, Bainsvlei, paid the highest price at the auction of R210 000 for lot 4, SCH220011. He also acquired lot 3, SCH210234, for R180 000.
An average price of R85 571 each was achieved for 35 bulls, while ten bulls sold for R100 000 or more.
The prices for his commercial females also exceeded Van der Schyff’s expectations. A total of 77 cows with a calf were sold at an average price of R6 448. A group of five cows with a calf, which may be 3-in-1, sold for the highest price of R32 000 each.
Vleissentraal Bloemfontein presented the auction in collaboration with SwiftVee and Theuns Visser was the auctioneer.
