The Ford Motor Company of South Africa (FMCSA) has announced more than 5 000 Ranger bakkies are being recalled due to problems with the vehicles’ braking systems.

According to a statement from FMCSA, these issues, regarding the vehicles’ brake boost feature, are occurring in some 2025 and 2026 Rangers.
According to Ford, drivers may feel a change in pedal feel or travel with an increase in pedal efforts needed to brake the vehicle, which could increase the risk of an accident.
A total of 5 676 vehicles in Southern Africa – 5 387 in South Africa, 113 in Botswana, 157 in Namibia and 19 in Eswatini – are being recalled due to these problems.
