Volkswagen recalls Amarok bakkies due to brake problems

21 September 2025

Volkswagen South Africa has recalled 374 Amarok bakkies. The bakkies were sold from 10 January to 12 June this year and are being recalled due to problems with their brakes.

By Michelle van der Spuy, Senior Journalist at African Farming and Landbouweekblad

According to the National Consumer Commission, Volkswagen has indicated that these vehicles are being recalled due to a possible loss of their brake assist.

According to Volkswagen, the vehicles’ braking systems are still functional, but may require extra effort when applying the brakes.

If this problem occurs while the vehicle is moving, it may require a longer braking distance and increase the possibility of an accident.

Volkswagen urges owners of the affected vehicles to visit their nearest Volkswagen dealer for a free inspection.
