Who Can Apply
The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) is casting a wide net with this initiative. Whether you are a subsistence farmer just getting by, a smallholder trying to expand your operation or are already running a commercial or mega-scale production, there’s potential support available.
For poultry farmers, there’s assistance with day-old chicks, point-of-lay pullets, feed and medication – basically everything you need to get your birds producing properly.
Vegetable growers can look forward to support with seeds, seedlings, fertiliser, pesticides and herbicides. If you’re into fruit farming, you’ll find help with fertiliser, pesticides and herbicides to keep your orchards healthy and productive.
Livestock And Mechanisation Support
For those running livestock operations, particularly intensive production systems with proper camp control, there’s support for feed, medication and breeding stock. This is especially valuable for farmers looking to improve their genetic lines and production efficiency.
The mechanisation support is particularly exciting. Farmers can access subsidies for soil preparation, planting, fertiliser application and plant spraying equipment. There’s even support available for tractors and other essential farming equipment.
One of the most comprehensive aspects of this programme is the infrastructure support. Whether you need irrigation systems, a packhouse, piggery facilities, processing plants, poultry houses, tunnels or storage facilities, there’s potential assistance available.
There’s also an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) incentive component that provides labour support, which can be crucial for labour-intensive operations.
Application Process And Deadlines
Applications close on Friday, 17 October 2025 at 16:30 sharp. The department has made the process straightforward by providing application forms on its website at www.ldard.gov.za.
Once you’ve completed your application with all the required certified supporting documents, you’ll need to submit it to your local LDARD district office or local agriculture office in your area of operation. The department says that because of budget constraints, not all qualifying farmers will receive funding.
