This week’s AMT Vegetable Market Report, Dr Johann van der Merwe, Director of AMT, looks at how rainfall is stirring up the fresh produce markets. 🌧️
🥔 Potatoes dropped 9% to R43.32/10kg – now 36% lower than last year.
🍅 Tomatoes eased to R11.65/kg, while 🧅 onions climbed to R40.57/10kg.
Lighter market volumes could tighten supply and push prices slightly higher for potatoes and tomatoes, while onions may stabilise. Leafy veg like cabbage and spinach remain under pressure due to rapid post-rain growth. 🌿
