According to Serapelwane, Morokweng will, for the first time in its history, host an agricultural event of national significance. The Moalosi Duncan Serapelwane Agricultural Expo is designed to empower farmers at all levels by combining practical training, technology and mentorship to unlock growth, sustainability and rural prosperity.
“The Moalosi Duncan Serapelwane Agricultural Expo is more than an exhibition; it is a bold investment in farmers, youth and the future of agriculture,” said Serapelwane. “It delivers skills, technology and opportunity directly to the heart of rural North West.”
The inaugural Moalosi Duncan Serapelwane (MDS) Agricultural Expo will take place from 30 April to 2 May 2026 at Moalosi Bonsmaras Farm in Morokweng village, approximately 140km outside Vryburg in the North West province. The event aims to empower farmers, promote skills development and position agriculture as a driver of rural development, innovation and agro-tourism.

Farmers, agribusinesses, students and other stakeholders will have access to hands-on workshops, masterclasses, live demonstrations and exhibitions. These sessions will showcase the latest developments in agricultural production, agro-processing and emerging technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence in agriculture.
Serapelwane said the expo builds on the success of previous farmer days and masterclasses hosted on his farm, which attracted participants from across South Africa and neighbouring Botswana.
“While those events were successful, many farmers felt they needed more time to engage, learn and network,” he said. “The MDS Agricultural Expo was therefore created as a structured, multi-day platform for meaningful learning, collaboration and growth.”
Expo Objectives
Key objectives of the expo include exposing farmers to modern agricultural technologies through live demonstrations; strengthening farmer-to-farmer mentorship between commercial and small-scale producers; creating partnership opportunities across the agricultural value chain; and providing targeted skills transfer through seminars and practical workshops.
The expo also seeks to empower women, youth, people living with disabilities and military veterans, while supporting agricultural students and interns through industry exposure. It will further promote agro-tourism and position the North West as a preferred rural destination, while communicating available support programmes from the North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The initiative aligns with the National Development Plan (NDP) Vision 2030, which calls for the development of an integrated rural economy that supports land reform, infrastructure development, agro-processing and tourism alongside primary agriculture.
Serapelwane, who has been farming since 2003, is widely respected for his commitment to farmer mentorship and development. He is also a regular contributor to the Donate a Heifer initiative, which supports and inspires young livestock farmers.
“Farming has the potential to address food security and unemployment while creating sustainable livelihoods,” he said. “This expo is about opening doors, sharing knowledge and inspiring the next generation of farmers.”
The MDS Agricultural Expo is expected to create economic opportunities for the local community, showcase rural talent and contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability and inclusive growth in the North West province.
