Kesieberg Merinos, owned by Willie and Herman Henning, held their annual Merino ram auction on the farm Leeuwfontein near Burgersdorp on 4 February.

The stud was one of the first to breed both poenskop (hornless) and horned rams. Top-quality rams, representing years of purposeful breeding, were offered.
Peut Spoelstra and Walter and George Price of Burgersdorp paid the highest price for a ram when lot 7 was knocked down to them for R42 000.
A total of 35 rams were sold at an average of R12 400, and 100 in-lamb ewes achieved an average of R2 900.
