Rams with good wool and production characteristics were offered to commercial buyers at the Graaff-Reinet ram auction on 26 February.

The sellers at the Botanical Sports Grounds in the town were Group 3 Merinos (Theo and Jaco Potgieter), De Wet Boerdery (Koos and Buks de Wet) and Hobson & Steynberg Dohnes (Graham Hobson and JP Steynberg).
The highest price was paid for a Merino ram that was sold for R45 000 to Hannes Gouws of Aberdeen. Eenzaamheid Farming of Colesberg paid the highest price of R20 000 for a Dohne Merino ram and Piet Strydom bought the most expensive SA Vleismerino ram for R19 000.
A total of 44 Merino rams were sold for an average price of R12 681, 64 Dohne Merino rams for an average of R8 406 and 25 SA Vleismerino rams for an average of R9 880.
