There has been steady progress in the 450-hectare orchard development at Majeje Sitrus Farm. On Tuesday, 29 April, Mpho Mashamba and members of the Premier’s Economic Growth Advisory Council conducted an oversight visit to assess progress, particularly on key infrastructure such as electricity supply, irrigation systems, administrative offices and storage facilities.
Mashamba expressed appreciation for the level of stakeholder engagement and investment in the project, noting that it is already delivering measurable results.

Job Creation and Inclusion
Mashamba said the local community is benefiting from the project’s economic activity, contributing to improved livelihoods in the area.
In line with national priorities, the department reports that the project has created 136 jobs to date. Of these, 72 positions are filled by young people and 47 by women.
The Majeje Sitrus project forms part of Limpopo’s broader strategy to expand agricultural production and agro-processing. It also supports efforts to broaden participation and increase the involvement of black producers in the agricultural value chain.
