A Santa Gertrudis bull achieved the highest price at the Namibia Genetics auction hosted by Agra and SwiftVEE in Windhoek on 28 April.

A Santa Gertrudis bull achieved the highest price at the Namibia Genetics auction hosted by Agra and SwiftVEE in Windhoek on 28 April.
The bull from Anita Jooste, owner of the Drukwerk Santa Gertrudis stud near Otjiwarongo, was sold for R105 000 to Heuweltop Farms of Dr Diaan Burger from Windhoek.
The highest price for a female animal was R55 000 for a Simbra heifer from Mike Wiechmann of Mica Simbras near Windhoek. The buyer was Norman Campbell of the farm Brunnenthal-West near Otjiwarongo.
A total of 42 bulls were sold at an average price of R60 690, while 16 pregnant heifers changed hands at an average of R35 188.
Sales to farmers attending the auction in person amounted to R3 223 000, while online sales totalled R342 000.
