A Namibian record price of R800 000 for a Brahman bull – and the second-highest price ever paid for cattle in the country across all breeds – was achieved on 12 May for a superb animal from the well-known Schneider family of Grootfontein.

The bull, OKB 22-0751 Xaver, was sold at the family’s Okabra Signature production auction in Windhoek to fellow Namibian Collin Venaani.
The Schneiders also sold another Brahman bull, OKB 22-0594, for R350 000. Several other bulls achieved prices of more than R100 000.
Brahmans and Simmentalers were offered by the family at the auction, which was conducted by Agra. Only two bulls remained unsold.
The Schneider family consists of Mecki and his wife, Brigitte, as well as their son Reimo and daughter-in-law Sonja, all of whom form part of the management team.
Mecki told Landbouweekblad that the record price and other high prices achieved were the result of years of purposeful selection and breeding.
He described Xaver as a highly masculine bull with a thick neck and strong withers, a good topline, powerful forequarters and hindquarters as well as excellent muscling and depth.
The bull was named junior interbreed champion bull at the 2025 Windhoek Show.
