Tshepiso Malema is making a name for himself in the world of agri-tech with an artificial intelligence solution that aims to help smaller-scale poultry farmers make better decisions that will grow their businesses.

Malema’s Flockify platform won the agri-tech category at the Fourth BRICS+ Youth Innovation Summit 2026 that was hosted in partnership with the Tshwane University of Technology and the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development in early April.
The summit brought together innovators, investors and policymakers to focus on real solutions for global challenges in the areas of sustainable development and green innovation, artificial intelligence and digitisation, and agri-tech solutions that address food security.
In each of these categories, participants presented practical ideas designed to solve real challenges while building scalable businesses.
Malema explains that Flockify uses smart cameras, sensors and AI-driven analytics to support small and medium-scale poultry farmers.
The system monitors flock health and makes early disease detection possible, tracks compliance and provides market insights to help farmers improve productivity, reduce losses and build more sustainable operations.
Developed by LLT Technologies Group, Flockify is all about making smarter and more profitable farming possible by helping farmers to make data-driven decisions – all through an app that a farmer installs on their smartphone.
As the platform is still being piloted, Malema describes the start-up’s greatest need as validation from users regarding usability.
“Please go onto our platform, sign up and use it,” he says.
Malema and Flockify will be travelling to China in June and then to the World Youth Festival in Russia in September this year.
