In June African Farming’s Skyman wase Ntilini’s sow gave birth to 13 healthy piglets. He shared with us how easily sows generally give birth. He also showed how the little piglets manage to walk or crawl within minutes after being born to get to the mother’s teats and start suckling.
A few days after the piglets were born, he noticed they were thin and battling. He also lost a few and thought they had some kind of disease.
After doing a bit of research on their symptoms, he realised they died of hypothermia (exposure to severe cold). So, he installed infrared lights to keep them warm and now they are doing much better.
