The National Department of Agriculture confirmed it has removed its earlier warning concerning Kraftmed’s RESQvax foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine ordering platform after the matter was clarified.

African Farming reported on 27 July 2026 the Department of Agriculture had warned livestock farmers against an advertisement promoting Kraftmed’s RESQvax online FMD vaccine ordering platform.
The article was based on a warning published by the department on its official social media platforms at the time, in which farmers were advised not to register on the platform, provide personal or farm information, place orders or make payments.
Kraftmed has since contacted African Farming, saying the concerns arose from a misunderstanding regarding the RESQvax platform and the matter had been clarified through engagements involving Kraftmed, Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) and the Department of Agriculture.
African Farming approached the Department of Agriculture to independently verify Kraftmed’s claims.
Moses Rannditsheni, the department’s Director: Media and External Communication, confirmed the matter had been clarified and that the warning had been removed.
The department further clarified that Kraftmed works with OBP and is extending its relationship with Red Meat Industry Services (RMIS) but does not work directly with the Department of Agriculture.
Rannditsheni said the department would not issue a further statement on the matter.
African Farming’s original article reflected the department’s official warning as published at the time of publication. This update reflects the subsequent clarification and the department’s confirmation that the warning has since been removed.
