🌬️ A COLD, WET and VERY WINDY THURSDAY is expected over large parts of the country as a strong CUT-OFF LAYER develops, with widespread rain and thunderstorms, and HEAVY RAIN possible over the Garden Route, Karoo and Eastern Cape.

• Yellow Level 4: Harmful winds and waves that could lead to disruption at ports and hazardous conditions for navigation at sea are expected between Alexander Bay and Plettenberg Bay until Friday.
• Yellow Level 4: Harmful winds that could lead to disruptions in electricity, communication and/or other services, damage to settlements, injuries and danger to life due to flying debris, as well as problems for tall vehicles on vulnerable routes due to crosswinds, are expected over the Namaqua district in the Northern Cape, as well as the Cape Winelands and Central Karoo districts in the Western Cape until Friday.
• Yellow Level 4: Disruptive rainfall that could lead to flooding of roads and settlements and major disruption to traffic flow is expected over the eastern parts of the Overberg district, the Garden Route, Langeberg and Laingsburg municipalities in the Western Cape.
• Yellow Level 2: Disruptive rainfall that could lead to local flooding of settlements, roads, low-lying areas and bridges is expected in places along the south coast and over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape.
• Yellow Level 2: Severe thunderstorms that could lead to local wind and hail damage to structures, falling trees and local fires due to excessive lightning are expected over the western parts of the Free State.
• Yellow Level 2: Damaging winds that could lead to damage to temporary structures and settlements, and disrupt transport routes and travel services, are expected over the western parts of the Western Cape from noon until Friday, as well as over the northern interior of the Eastern Cape.
