Maize and sunflower oilcake are likely to become cheaper, but the price of soya meal is projected to rise slightly. The report uses June 2026 as a base, with an outlook to December 2026.
In December, the price of yellow maize is expected to be R3 393/ton in Randfontein (2.8% lower than in December 2025) and R3 493/ton in Pietermaritzburg (2.7% lower).
Sunflower oilcake is projected to sell for R2 740/ton in both centres, a drop of 31.4% from the December 2025 price.
Soya meal is the only feed ingredient whose price is expected to rise. The projected price for soya meal in December stands at R5 840/ton in Randfontein, which is 4.6% above December 2025 and R6 040/ton in Pietermaritzburg, which is 4.4% higher.
