AFGRI Retail has what a farmer needs

During the sixth episode of African Farming, the agricultural television show on Mzansi Wethu (channel 163), Thomas Johnson, Manager of Fuels at AFGRI Retail, explained to the show’s host, Angie Khumalo, why AFGRI Retail is the one-stop shop for farmers.

Every farmer knows that things sometimes don’t go according to plan, and that a big part of farming is making plans on the go. With intensive farming like Kobela Mokgohloa’s there’s a lot that can go wrong. When you can’t fix it yourself, and “the boer can’t make a plan” you need to get to an agribusiness outlet that stocks everything you need.

AFGRI ensures that a farmer such as Kobela prefers to go to an AFGRI Retail outlet when he needs something in a hurry.

At the beginning of October, AFGRI Retail opened 33 branches countrywide, from KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Free State, to Mpumalanga and Gauteng. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the AFGRI Retail store in Bethal marked this auspicious occasion.

AFGRI Agri Services view retail as absolutely central to its strategy and offerings. For this reason, the company wants to ensure that it offers their customers excellent service, quality goods and pricing that is equitable.
“We want to be seen as a one-stop shop where a farmer will find chemicals, seed and fertiliser.

“What counts in our favour is that our staff are all very well trained. They are aware of the fact that a farmer doesn’t have time to waste searching for things in the store, so, when a farmer comes to our shop, he wants to dash in and out. Our capable staff allows for that, which makes it easy for farmers to trade with us,” said Johnson.

“The other thing that we are really proud of, is the relationship we have with our suppliers.

“We also offer fuel at our shops. Therefore, we pride ourselves on our ability to offer a full package for new-era farmers which motivates them to visit our shops.”
