AFGRI rewarded for work in Uganda

The agri-services group AFGRI Uganda was recently honoured as the largest contributor to food security in East Africa at the East Africa Book of Records (EABR) Awards.

The EABR annually recognises achievements in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals by individuals or companies. Ending hunger, achieving food security and promoting sustainable agriculture is amongst the 17 goals set out by the UN.

According to Jacob de Villiers, managing director of grain management at AFGRI, the company is committed to investing in small-scale farming in Uganda.

“AFGRI’s grain management business in Uganda began in 2013, with the purpose of managing grain for food security and to prevent post-harvest losses on grain commodities,” says De Villiers.

AFGRI is involved with subsistence farmers and commercial farmers across the continent, provides advice, marketing assistance, grain storage and handling in an effort to combat food security and help farmers prosper.
