Alexandershoek SAMM holds 40th production auction

Alexandershoek’s 40th South African Mutton Merino (SAMM) production auction took place on 28 August at the farm Alexandershoek near Moorreesburg.

Suzanne Kotzé from Moorreesburg’s ram 2002 SJ fetched the highest price at the auction, selling for R32 000 to John Morris of the Stellenbosch University’s Mariendahl research farm.

A total of 59 rams were sold for an average price of R12 576.

The auction was conducted by BKB Humansdorp under the auspices of the SAMM Society, with Tjaart Steyn as the auctioneer.
