Good prices at production auction from Nagenoeg Herefords and guest sellers

Nagenoeg Poenskop Herefords, with guest sellers Botha Brothers, V2 Beefmasters, Drie-D-Drakensbergers and Percivale South Devon, held its annual production auction on 13 September on the Moorcourt farm of Gerhard and Verna Botha in the Barkly East district.

The most expensive bull from Nagenoeg Herefords, BN 220042, was sold for R57 000 to TC Botha of Botha Brothers of the farm Farnham, Elliot. V2 Beefmasters’ most expensive bull, VV 210021, was sold for R42 000 to the CP Marais family trust from Weltevrede at Cintsa.

Average prices were as follows:

• Hereford bulls R40 100

• Beefmaster bulls R38 800

• South Devon bulls R35 000

• Drakensberger bulls R46 000

• Pregnant Hereford heifers R14 650

• Pregnant Beefmaster heifers R14 466

The auction was conducted by BKB Cradock, with Vincent Pike as auctioneer.
