Oupa Mathebula farms mango, cassava, tomatoe, cucumber, goats and cattle on a 265 hectare farm in Deerpark near Tzaneen in Limpopo province. Mathebula sells his produce to the fresh produce markets in Gauteng. He is chairman of the Farmers Business Co-operative and says many black farmers are struggling and selling off their farms to white farmers because they can’t raise capital to grown their businesses. He says this is a result of skewed land ownership and a market that’s shutting out emerging farmers. Photo: Lucas Ledwaba/Mukurukuru Media
