Do you want to take control of your car using only your mobile device? Now you can do just that with the innovative connected technology in the new Ford Ranger FX4.
Ford South Africa has not only given the FX4 a new updated muscular look with a sporty black mesh grille, black mirrors and door handles and black 18-inch alloy wheels, but they have also upgraded the vehicle with the latest technology.
Customers can now take control of their bakkie’s tech with one simple app making its debut in the FX4. FordPass Connect technology provides innovative remote command and control functionality, plus a wide range of convenient alerts and information tools.
The app allows you to start your engine to activate the climate control system, lock and unlock the doors, find your vehicle’s location and access information such as fuel level and oil life.
Ford understands that looking for parking can be a nightmare, which is why they have included a feature to help the driver search for parking Furthermore, the FordPass app enables direct access to Roadside Assistance and can help schedule maintenance and service bookings.
What else is new?
The Ranger FX4 is available in 4×2 and 4×4 options, offering exceptional capability, unrivalled fuel economy and a superb range of design and functional features. A black mesh grille gives the Ranger a more assertive look, complemented by integrated LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps that are standard on all Ranger XLT, Wildtrak and Raptor models.
The FX4 comes with bold black mirrors and door handles, 18-inch multi-spoke black alloy wheels, bold red ‘FX4’ badges located at the base of the front doors and a 3D ‘FX4’ badge on the tailgate.
The bakkie is available in five distinctive colour choices: Sea Grey, Frozen White, Race Red, Agate Black and Moondust Silver.
On the inside, the design elements echo the exterior with a sporty cabin incorporating a soft- touch leather-trimmed dashboard with red stitching for leather steering wheel, gear lever and seats.
The Ranger FX4 is equipped with additional active safety features such as Electronic Stability Programme with Traction Control, Hill Launch Assist, Roll-over Mitigation, Adaptive Load Control, Trailer Sway Control and ABS brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist.
The FX4 is powered by Ford’s 2,0-litre single turbo diesel engine, producing 132kW of power and a substantial 420Nm of torque. The average fuel consumption is at 6,8 litres/100km over a 2 500km test route.

All Ranger models come standard with Ford Protect, comprising a four year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, three-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty.
A six-year/90 000km service plan is included, with 15 000km service intervals.
The FordPass Connect technology is now available in all Rangers from XL specification upwards.
