Eighty bulls of excellent quality were offered by the sellers, Brett Newborn (Intsizwa Simmentalers, Matatiele), Bruce Taylor (Garrisford Simmentalers, Underberg), Peter Lourens (Malina Herefords, Kokstad), Dave Lourens (Foleshill Angus, Cedarville), Tracey Mapstone (ENM Brahmans, Underberg) and Tim Hempson (Southern Berg Brahmans, Underberg).
The average price of bulls across all breeds was R70 133. Intsizwe Simmentalers achieved the highest price of the day with the bull MN21168 (lot 30), which sold for R250 000 to Ed Barry of Four Feet Simmentalers, Dalton, and Koos Kooy from Oggendstond Simmentalers, Mooirivier.
Garrisford Simmentalers offered for sale the bull T21102 (lot 41A). The full proceeds of this bull were donated on behalf of all the sellers to the Swartberg farmers who recently suffered devastating fires. Neil Groom from UCOSP, Riverview bought the bull for R105 000.
The buyers and sellers were generally very satisfied with the auction, and the sellers thank all buyers and persons who made the day a success. The auction was marketed and facilitated by Farmers Livestock Agents. Brandon Leer was the auctioneer.
